The Planning Process
The Currituck Planning Department, along with planning consultants, Destination by Design, will lead a yearlong planning process that will conclude by June 2017:
Public Engagement and Visioning (June – Nov. 2016). Receive ideas from citizens by promoting an online survey and promoting public workshops throughout the county.
Plan Development (Oct. – July 2017). Create a highly visual plan that communicates how citizens Imagine Currituck in 2040. Present draft plan to the public and elected officials and develop final document for adoption.
Steering Committee Role
- Share unique knowledge of Currituck County and help cast a vision for its future;
- Provide insight to help shape guidelines for growth and development;
- Develop new ideas and share concerns with other committee members and staff; and
- Connect with friends, neighbors and business associates to inform and encourage others to help IMAGINE Currituck.
The Currituck County Board of Commissioners appointed the 12-member IMAGINE Currituck Steering Committee to help guide plan preparation. The Steering Committee will receive technical and administrative assistance from County staff and the planning consultant team. The IMAGINE Currituck Steering Committee will hosts its meetings at 6pm on the 4th Monday of each month at different locations throughout the County. This schedule is subject to change based on the type of meeting and committee member availability. A notification with location and time will be posted two weeks prior to the meeting.
